Laut Baidu findet das Festival alle 2 Jahre statt, das letzte Mal im September 2010, also muesste dieses Jahr im Herbst wieder ein Festival an der Reihe sein.

Es ist schade, dass das Festival nicht mehr für die Touristen angeboten wird. Als ich das vorletzte Mal in N-Korea war, hing im Yanggakdo eine kleine versteckte Tafel mit dem Tagesprogramm, aber ich wurde in keinster Weise darauf hingewiesen. Wäre ich nicht neugierig, hätte ich als Tourist in Pyongyang nicht mal mitbekommen, dass es das gerade gibt... Aber scheint ein generelles Problem mit den Kulturveranstaltungen zu sein abgesehen von Arirang, auch das April-Friendship-Art-Festival wird ähnlich schlecht vermarktet; es hängen die Plakate rum, aber dass der Tourist da hin geht, scheint nicht gefragt zu sein. Es sind die Delegationen da, die TV-Teams von KCTV, aber die Tourismusbüros interessiert das alles nicht. Die Touristen sollen offensichtlich Monate vorher um die Gnade eines Besuchs fragen; dass man vor Ort mal sagt, heute oder übermorgen abend gibts das oder das, möchten Sie das sehen, das scheint nicht üblich zu sein. Schade. Denn wenn man sich die Teilnehmer ansieht oder sich auch mal mit Ihnen im Hotel oder Flugzeug unterhält, scheint da viel Interessantes geboten zu sein. Auch sehr schöne Spontanauftritte von Afrikanern im Hotel habe ich schon gesehen. Ich habe es auch schon mal erlebt, dass ein Teilnehmer am Festival die Touristen gebeten hat zu kommen am nächsten Abend und sogar extra noch schnell ne handschriftliche Einladung geschrieben hat und die Guides nur abgewimmelt haben, statt es zu organisieren. Also da muss sich noch etwas die Einstellung ändern. Man hat tolle Kultur-Veranstaltungen, mit nationaler und internationaler Besetzung, aber obs wer angucken will interessiert nicht :-(

13th Pyongyang Int'l Film Festival to Be Held

The 13th Pyongyang International Film Festival is to be held in Pyongyang.
Films from 20 odd countries will be screened during the festival from Sept. 20 to 27.
The festival will be held, divided into various panels including competition of documentary, short and long films, special screening, circular screening and film-exchange meeting.
Also scheduled in the festival is a preview of Korean films.
The festival will offer a good occasion for the movie persons of various countries to share successes and experience they have gained in producing films, boost exchange and cooperation and accelerate the development of progressive film arts in the idea of independence, friendship and peace.

Posters on 13th Pyongyang Int'l Film Festival Released

The DPRK printed posters ahead of the 13th Pyongyang International Film Festival.
They reflect the desire and wishes of the Korean people and other progressives to spur the development of national films and boost the exchange and cooperation in movie field.
They portray Korean and foreign films to be shown and depict torch prize, highlighting the significance of the festival.
The poster implies warm welcome to foreigners coming to Pyongyang carrying with the feelings to the Korean people and the mind to significantly decorate the festival.
The poster depicting a flying dove together with words "Independence", "Peace" and "Friendship" reflects the desire of progressives to enjoy a true life in the independent and peaceful world and the idea of the festival.
Those posters will contribute to livening up the festival atmosphere.

Vllt. sollten nicht nur internationale Filme, sondern auch (wieder) mehr einheimische Produktionen gezeigt werden?
