Einen Tag nach der Entschuldigungsmeldung veröffentlichte KCNA am 30.12.1996 folgende Meldung in welcher über Gespräche zwischen der DVRK und den USA berichtet wurde.In den Gesrächen sei es um Leichtwasserreaktoren,Treibstoff,Lebensmittelhilfen aber auch um den U-Boot Zwischenfall gegangen.So wurden die Leichen der getöteten Besatzungsmitglieder an Nordkorea übergeben.Weiterhin behauptet KCNA es habe sich um einen Maschinenschaden gehandelt.

DPRK-U.S. talks held
Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- Talks between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the United States of America were held in New York from December 9 to 29. Present at the talks on the DPRK side were the director of the U.S. affairs department of the foreign ministry and his party and on the u.s. side were the director for Asia in the national security council of the white house, the chief of the Korean affairs section of the state department and officials of the U.S. administration. The sides discussed in a sincere and productive atmosphere the implementation of the agreed framework including the promotion of the light-water reactor project and the resumption of spent fuel storage, the outstanding issues between the two countries, the issue of "joint explanation" of the proposed "four-way talks" and the "submarine incident." At the talks, the sides reaffirmed their commitment to implement the agreed framework and continue to promote bilateral relations. The U.S. side promised that it would take additional measures to ease the embargo on the DPRK and supply food to the DPRK. The DPRK side expressed its willingness to allow the resumption of spent fuel storage and listen to a "joint explanation" of the proposed "four-way talks." The DPRK took over the bodies of its soldiers killed in the "submarine incident" today as agreed by both sides at the talks and expressed regret over the incident caused by an engine trouble and the subsequent losses of many people.

Laut Südkorea begannen 11 der Besatzungsmitglieder Selbstmord, was ich bemerkenswert finde.Entweder es handelte sich wirklich um Fanatiker oder an der Sache stimmt etwas nicht.Andererseits schickt man auf solch eine Mission sicher keine unsicheren Kandidaten los.Doch das mit dem Selbstmord..naja..ist andererseits Asien.
Ein Mann wurde überdies lebend festgenommen und dient seither als Militärberater dem Süden.Und ein einziger ist verschwunden.Entweder starb er bei dem Versuch in den Norden zurückzugelangen oder schaffte es tatsächlich zurück.Was dort wohl aus ihm geworden sein könnte?
