Songun Politics - Sword of Justice

To live and develop independently is the common desire and wish of every country and nation.

But due to the US-led imperialist powers’ arbitrary pursuance of supremacy, the sovereignty of individual countries and the peace and safety of the world are terribly jeopardized. Depending on their military and economic “supremacy”, the imperialists make their target of those countries which stick to their independent stands, refusing to be under the imperialist thumb, and launch political and military offensive and economic sanctions on them.

That is why politicians and public figures of many countries are seeking for a way to cope with the maneuvers of the imperialists.

The chairman of the Kimjongilism Study Group of Nigeria said:

“Songun politics is the only righteous and powerful political mode in our era that brings independence and prosperity to a nation. So they highly appreciate the Songun politics and follow the examples of Korea across the world.”

The Songun politics is the sword of justice that defends the sovereignty of a given country.

The experience of Korea shows well how it secures the national sovereignty.

In the mid-1990s Korea was at the crossroads of life and death due to the stifling and isolating policy of the US.

At that time, the leader Kim Jong Il held aloft the banner of Songun ever higher to lead the nation in the struggle of defending the sovereignty and socialism.

During the days of severe hardships, he raised the defence of the country and socialism as the issue of basic interest in the revolution, paid on-the-spot guidance to Korean People’s Army units before going to the factories and farming villages, and continued his inspection to the front whether it was fine or bad to guard the safety and happiness of the nation. He set the People’s Army as the hardcore and main force of the revolution and energetically led it so that it played its role as the vanguard and shock brigade in accomplishing the socialist cause. From 1995 to 2002, he paid on-the-spot guidance to more than 1100 units.

During those days, his field car meant his office where he defended the destiny of the country and prepared a bright future of prosperity of the nation.

The Songun politics is the sword of justice that guarantees global peace and safety.

Peace and safety around the world is possible only when every country has its strong national power.

The national power is just the military power. When every country has its own strong military power, the imperialists will be impotent and the global peace and security be ensured.

In reality, not a few countries of the world suffered great misfortunes due to intervention and invasion the imperialists perpetrated under the pretext of “human rights protection”, “prevention of the threat of WMD” and the “anti-terrorism”. This was precisely because they had weak military power. The developments since the end of the Cold War clearly show that the aggressive nature and dominations ambition of the imperialists will never change whatever the international situation may be and that peace and security will be the last thing to desire without the strong power.

The Songun politics has strengthened the national power of Korea. Not only the military power but also all other fields including politics, the economy and culture, have recorded success. In August 1998, Korea launched its first artificial earth satellite Kwangmyongsong No. 1. For the first time in 55 years after the national division, the north-south summit meeting took place in Pyongyang and the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, the milestone for Korea’s reunification, was adopted. Over 20 countries including the European ones that had kept away from Korea newly set up the diplomatic relationship with it.

A European specialist of Korean studies wrote in his note:

“From the mid-1990s till now, three miracles were worked in Korea.

“First, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, which nearly disappeared from the world political arena, has risen up as a prominent representative of socialism both nominally and virtually.

“Secondly, the Korean people have skipped over the abyss of death to dash for the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.

“Thirdly, the US-led western countries that had been frenzied to wipe out Korea offered their hand of reconciliation to Korea.”
