Der Vize-Außenminister der DVRK, "Ri Yong Ho" besucht vom 7. bis mindestens 10. März die USA, um sich dort mit amerikanischen Politikern und (eventuell) einem südkoreanischen Politikerkollegen zu beraten:
"Vice Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho plans to visit New York from Wednesday until Friday for an academic forum sponsored by the Maxwell School at Syracuse University, according to the State Department. The school's dean is James Steinberg, a former deputy secretary of state.
The trip comes a week after North Korea and the U.S. announced a set of deals reached in their high-level talks in Beijing earlier this month.
Under the agreement, Pyongyang has agreed to freeze its uranium-enrichment facilities and temporarily halt its nuclear and long-range missile tests in exchange for 240,000 tons of food aid from the U.S.
The North has also agreed to allow the return of monitors from the International Atomic Energy Agency to its main nuclear complex in Yongbyon.
Ri plans to attend a meeting of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, a non-partisan foreign policy think tank, on March 10, said the diplomatic source on condition of anonymity, citing policy.
The source said Glyn Davies, the U.S. special representative for North Korea policy, and Clifford Hart, the U.S. special envoy for the six-party talks, could also attend the session of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, though no final decision has been made yet.
The North Korean envoy could also meet with South Korea's chief nuclear envoy, Lim Sung-nam, who is scheduled to attend the academic forum of the Maxwell School at Syracuse University."

Was mir dabei besonders auffällt:
1. Der Zeitpunkt der Reise!
Genau jetzt - wie jedes Jahr im Frühling - halten US- und südkoreanische Streitkräfte in Südkorea die "Key Resolve"-Militärübung ab, gegen die Nordkorea derzeit mit allen medialen Mitteln ankämpft. Und genau jetzt trifft sich der nordkoreanische Vizeaußenminister zu einem entspannten Meinungsaustausch mit Freund/oder Feind im mondänen New York.
2. Der Ort der Gespräche:
Ein Teil der Gespräche soll an der New Yorker Syracuse-Universität stattfinden. Das ist genau jene Universität, die schon seit vielen jahren eine intensive Kooperation im Bereich der Informationstechnologie mit der Pyongyanger Kimchaek-Universität betreibt. (Über Umfang und Inhalt dieser Kooperation hüllen sich beide Unis in Schweigen, was bei der Kimchaek-Universität noch leicher verständlich ist).
3. Der Name Ri Yong Ho:
Das muss in Korea ein sehr häufiger Name sein.
Alleine im Zentralkomitee, im Politbüro, in den Kandidatenlisten der PdAK, im Regierungsteam, in der Nationalen Verteidigungskommision der DVRK sind fünf oder sechs Amtsträger mit dem Namen Ri Yong Ho aufgelistet. Wenn darunter auch Doppel- oder Multifunktionäre sein mögen, bleiben immer noch 2 bis 3 Ri Yong Hos in den hohen Staatsämtern über!
