(KCNA) -- February 16 is the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il.
He was born in Mt. Paektu in Juche 31 (1942), which is called the sacred mountain of revolution in Korea.
He was born to the most patriotic and revolutionary family who had struggled
against the foreign aggressors and for the independence of the country, people's
freedom and emancipation and the accomplishment of the cause of socialism
and communism through generations..
He finished his common education from September 1950 to August 1960 and
higher education at Kim Il Sung University from September 1960 to March 1964.
After starting his work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of
Korea in June 1964, he was elected secretary of the C.C., the WPK in September
1973 and member of its political bureau in February 1974.
He was elected presidium member of the political bureau and secretary of
the WPK Central Committee and member of the Central Military Commission of
the WPK at the 6th Congress of the WPK held in October Juche 79 (1980).
He was elected deputy to the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th Supreme People's Assembly
from February 1982. He was elected first vice-chairman of the National Defence
Commission of the DPRK in May 1990, its chairman in April 1993 and Supreme
Commander of the Korean People's Army in December 1991.
In October 1997 he was elected General Secretary of the WPK.
He was reelected Chairman of the NDC of the DPRK, the highest post in the DPRK, in September 1998.
The title of Marshal of the DPRK was awarded to him in April 1992.
Kim Jong Il has wisely led socialist construction in the DPRK through his
outstanding ideological and theoretical activities and with his unique political
mode for scores of years and achieved the single-hearted unity of the whole
society with his benevolent politics, an all-embracing politics. He has also
performed immortal feats for the movement for the rebuilding of socialism
and the human cause of independence.
Progressive humankind is now highly praising him as great leader for his
lofty political idea of "believing in the people as in heaven," the outstanding
leadership ability and noble personality.
Kim Jong Il was awarded the title of Hero of the DPRK and Kim Il Sung Order
several times for his contribution to the strengthening and development of
the Korean and the world revolution and the international communist movement.
He also received many orders of the DPRK and foreign countries and honorary
titles of doctor of universities in different countries.

Kim Jong Il begeht im hoffnungsvollen 21. Jahrhundert seinen Geburtstag. Man entbietet ihm den größten Ruhm und herzliche Glückwünsche.
Am 16. Februar 1942 wurde er im Feuer des Krieges gegen Japan im Geheimlager Paektu als Sohn von Kim Il Sung und Kim Jong Suk geboren.
Seit er früh den Weg der Revolution betrat, stand er Kim Il Sung bei seiner Nähe mit Rat und Tat bei, konzipierte mit ihm die Richtlinie und Politik und führte Partei, Staat, Armee und Volk.
Er entwickelte und bereicherte die von Kim Il Sung begründete Juche-Ideologie allseitig weiter und legte neue und originelle Ideen und Theorien dar, die den Weg zum Sieg des Sozialismus weisen und die Zukunft der Epoche erhellen.
Und erstmals in der Geschichte des Aufbaus einer revolutionären Partei stärkte und entwickelte er die Partei der Arbeit Koreas als eine Partei des Führers weiter, in der die Einheitlichkeit der Ideologie und Führungstätigkeit vom Führer unbeirrt gesichert ist.
Nach dem Ableben des Präsidenten Kim Il Sung verlieh Kim Jong Il ihm Unsterblichkeit, wodurch er das erhabenste Vorbild der in der Menschheitsgeschichte beispiellosen Ergebenheit, Moral und Pflichttreue zum vorgängigen Führer gab.
Insbesondere in Fortsetzung der Songun-Idee Kim Il Sungs betreibt er die Songun-Politik, den originellen sozialistischen Politikstil. Dadurch stärkte und entwickelte er die Koreanische Volksarmee zu einer unbesiegbar starken Armee und schuf ein Wunder der Geschichte, dass die heimtückischen Isolierungs- und Strangulierungsmanöver der Imperialisten vereitelt, die Würde der Nation und die Souveränität des Landes verteidigt und ein breiter Weg zum Aufbau einer großen aufblühenden Macht eröffnet wurden
Er betrachtete die Vereinigung des Vaterlandes als die größte Aufgabe in der nationalen Geschichte, schloss die breiten patriotischen Vereinigungskräfte im Norden, im Süden und im Ausland zusammen und schuf die Gemeinsame Nord-Süd-Erklärung vom 15. Juni darüber, das Vaterland durch die Einheit unserer Nation und selbstständig zu vereinigen. Somit leitete er eine Wendephase bei der Verwirklichung der Sache zur Vereinigung Koreas ein.
Außerdem erhöhte er durch unermüdliche auswärtige Tätigkeiten das internationale Ansehen der KDVR beträchtlich, führte bei der Entwicklung der diplomatischen Beziehungen eine neue Wende herbei und leistete einen großen Beitrag dazu, das souveräne Werk der Menschheit zu verwirklichen und Frieden und Sicherheit in der Welt zu schützen.
Kim Jong Il führt auch zurzeit mit glänzendem Scharfblick, großer Tatkraft, unvergleichlichem Mut und unbeugsamem Willen die Epoche.
An diesem bedeutungsvollen Morgen vom Februar entbieten wir ihm noch einmal ehrerbietige Grüße herzlicher Glückwünsche.

Question
I know that the Dear Leader is famed for dispensing on-the-spot guidance as he travels around the DPRK and visits various organisations, factories etc and that this guidance continues a tradition established by the Great Leader.
I am interested in the nature of this advice. Is it generally of a very specific nature, (for example how to use a particular machine in a factory more effectively)? Or is it of a general nature (for example the best way for people to be organised so as to be a more efficient team)? If the advice is of a general nature, has it ever been published as a collection that people can use to organise their lives better. There is a trend for self-help books these days and most of them are useless rubbish. A collection of the on-the-spot guidance of the Great and Dear Leaders could be be a truly valuable resource for daily living.
I would have thought that the guidance given reflects the accumulated experience and wisdom of the Great and Dear Leaders' travel, but I have a number of specific questions:
- is the guidance given in response to questions asked of the Leader by the organisation being visited, or is it given by him spontaneously?
- if (for example) the Dear Leader is visiting a farm, would he be travelling with a group of agricultural experts who can quickly bring him up to speed with relevant facts and information?
Answer
Although Marshal Kim Jong Il has knowledge in many fields, our Leader always say 'The people are my masters', so he always take advice from experts and acquaint himslelf of the situation and facts.
He comments that he enjoy so much learning from people and reading the books. That's why his knowledge is so wide.
After receiving figures from the managers, he will ask the workers, how they think about the factory, the farm, how the work can be improved. He will ask them what they lack of, what kind of life they have, the health of their families, etc.
When he has the whole picture, then he will start suggesting ways to improve, or higher goals to be achieved. After leaving the spot, he will request to have a feedback on the situation (to measure the improvement and happiness of the people) and he can give special orders for resolving potential problems (like importing an expensive special machine that was needed, and so on).
So advices are general and specific too.
And as for the visits, only few of them are scheduled. He prefers to appear spontaneously. To see the reality and daily working (training, in case of military units). As you know when the Director is going to come, everybody keeps everything nice and tidy ... but in his case he prefers the natural and humble things to witness the real situation.
Example: In some cases of difficulty, the Director of the X factory will hide some deep problems or lack of materials because he worries of losing the face, and at the same time he doesn't want to worry our General.
But the Great Leader will become very angry if someone lie to him in this way, because he always wants the truth, and he tries to avoid the diplomacy and flattering of any kind.

Pointing to the distinguished feature of the General who is trusted by all the people as the great master of leadership, the daily continues: He is an extraordinary able man who is grand in plan and design, great in organisation and sweep, strong in control and enterprise and peculiar in consistency and delicacy, and a great leader who has strengthened and developed the WPK into the vanguard of Juche, an ever-victorious iron-willed Party and formed all the people as the singlehearted rank. It is indeed our great happiness to uphold the General who is a great man followed by all the people. It is the eternal faith of the General to lead the road of Juche from Mt.
