On the Occasion of the Significant October Holidays                                             

 

October is a very meaningful month for the Korean people and youth, as it has the historical events which concentratedly show the history of Workers' Party of Korea (WPK): 

1) Founding day of "Down With Imperialism Union"(DIU) on Oct 17, 1926

2) Birthday of WPK on Oct 10, 1945

3) Election day of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il as the general secretary of WPK on Oct 8, 1997.

The foundation of "DIU" was the first stride in President Kim Il Sung's revolutionary activities and at the same time it was a historical declaration of new embarkation in Korean revolution for national liberation. DIU provided the root for a new and Juche-oriented party distinguishing from previous political parties and opened a new stage in Korean revolution, because its programme laid foundation for the programme of WPK and its independent principle became the principle for the party-building and activities of WPK. And the new communist generations brought up by DIU also consisted a core in founding the party and revolutionary armed forces. President Kim Il Sung also organised "Comrade-Rallying Party", the first party organisation on July 3, 1930 and the first revolutionary armed forces on April 25, 1932 with the young communists as its core. 

DIU is a precious crystal of independent will of President Kim Il Sung. His greatness lies in the fact that he opened a new era in which our revolution could advance on the principle of independence by organising DIU. History knows many great men famed from his childhood, but it does not know such a great man as President Kim Il Sung who founded a organisation like DIU in his teenage with a determination to burden the destiny of his nation and mankind.  

Our revolution and Songun (army-first) politics have the same origin. President Kim Il Sung initiated Songun politics by proclaiming the programme of DIU and declared the birth of Songun politics by setting out the slogan "Arms are our life! Arms for arms!" in Kalun meeting on June 30, 1930. Today the slogan still illuminates the future of Songun era. 

Starting the revolution with two pistols inherited from his father President Kim Il Sung founded the invincible revolutionary armed forces and made exploits to be handed down through generations under the banner of DIU. His feats are now brilliantly shone in Songun era by Comrade Kim Jong Il.

Comrade Kim Jong Il, the son of Mt. Paektu is leading the WPK and the banner of DIU is flying more vigorously in Songun era. Regarding it as his lifetime mission to brilliantly complete the Juche revolutionary cause pioneered by the President he led the Korean revolution for over 40 years to develop the party into the one of the President.

From the first day of his work in the central committee of WPK Comrade Kim Jong Il, the outstanding successor and leader of Juche-oriented party-building cause developed the party into the one of the President with his inexhaustible ideo-theoretical activities and outstanding leadership and always guided it to victory.

After the sudden demise of the President he issued classical works including "The Workers' Party of Korea is the party of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" and strengthened the party into the President's party and brilliantly succeeded the Juche revolutionary cause initiated by the President.

On Oct 8, 1997 Comrade Kim Jong Il was elected the general secretary of WPK by unanimous desire of the party members and people. His election was the demonstration of absolute confidence and trust in him of the Korean people who made distinguished exploits in the cause of revolution and party-building. It was also a recordable event that brought about a radical turn in the history of the party. By his unique Songun revolutionary leadership our country always wins a victory in the severe ideological, political and military confrontation against imperialist allied forces.
