"Choe met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Friday, during which he conveyed Pyongyang's willingness to open dialogue on the issue with 'concerned parties.' According to China's official news media, Choi's remarks came in response to Xi's call for a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula.
South Korea's government, however, feels North Korea's policy direction expressed through Choe lacks specifics, according to officials in Seoul. 'North Korea appears to have delivered its intention to resume dialogue to China, and the two sides seem to have shared the need for dialogue,' a high-ranking official in Seoul said. But the official painted a cautious picture of the outlook for the resumption of dialogue, noting Pyongyang's failure to mention denuclearization.
Another Seoul official also said North Korea failed to mention denuclearization and the six-party talks in its media coverage of the outcome of Choe's Chinese trip. 'North Korea and China are still wide apart as far as the denuclearization issue is concerned,' the official said.
Also clouding the outlook for the resumption of dialogue, the North poured out raw criticism of South Korean President Park Geun-hye in an official statement released on Saturday."

BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) - Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui said on Wednesday that denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula conforms to the interests of all concerned parties. Zhang made the comments at a strategic dialogue between foreign ministries of China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), which he co-chaired with his DPRK counterpart Kim Kye Gwan in Beijing.
Zhang said China attaches great importance to bilateral relations and is ready to work with the DPRK to promote the long-term, sound and stable development of these relations. He said it is in the interests of all parties concerned to realize denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, safeguard its peace and stability and resolve relevant issues through dialogue and consultation. China supports dialogues among parties concerned and hopes to resume the six-party talks at an early date, he said.
Kim said the DPRK values the bilateral friendship and is willing to work with China to advance friendly cooperation. It is the wish of the deceased DPRK leader Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il to realize denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, he said. The DPRK is willing to hold dialogues with all related parties, he said, adding that the country is also ready to join in any form of talks, including the six-party talks, in order to resolve the nuclear issue through peaceful negotiations.

Waxwork will go on display in Pyongyang after second opening ceremony on July 27

SEOUL – China presented North Korea with a life-size waxwork figure of Kim Jong Il wearing the late leader’s trademark jumpsuit and parka coat during a special presentation ceremony in Beijing on Tuesday. A North Korean delegation, including Deputy Minister of Science and Education Kim Mun Kyung was there to receive the waxwork, which goes on display in North Korea’s ‘International Friendship Exhibition’ on 27 July.
Kim praised the talents of the artist, Zhang Molei, China’s Global Times said, and emphasized the friendship between China and North Korea. Zhang created a waxwork figure for Kim Il Sung and his wife in 1996 (see video at bottom of article). With a Kim Jong Il figure added to the collection, analysts in South Korea are speculating that Sino-DPRK relations are showing a “gradual recovery” since Choe Ryong Hae’s May visit to Beijing in May.
